Preparation: Use The Black 2ULaundry Dry Cleaning or Launder & Press Bag for any delicate items, especially those made of natural fibers such as wool, linen, silk, etc. that could shrink with exposure to water. Dry Cleaning will prevent shrinkage and color loss while maintaining the texture and shape of the garments.
We clean each item according to its care label, so simply place everything for Dry Cleaning or Launder & Press services in the same bag, and our Clothing Care Professionals will take care of the rest.
The Dry Cleaning Bag doubles as a laundry bag and hanging bag. For pickup, flip the hanging bag upside down, place your garments down in the bottom of the bag without hangers, and cinch it fully closed.
We do not currently accept the use of personal hangers. Please refrain from sending in any personal hangers you’d like returned with your order.
Submit any special cleaning requests to Customer Care or through your Account online or using our mobile app. Special instructions will be flagged by our system during check-in for our Facility Manager to address.
Check-in: Upon arrival at our facility, each item is checked in for cleaning and will be placed into the appropriate cleaning category for Dry Cleaning or Laundering based on its care label.
Cleaning: The items are cleaned in non-water-based solvents. The cleaning process safely cleans garments of stains and odors without risking damage to the clothing.
Garments are placed in a large industrial machine based on color and are submerged in the chemical solvent. The clothes are cleaned in the fluid at a low-spin, which brings stains to the surface. They’re then fully rid of the chemical and stains during a super high-speed spin cycle. Clothes are completely dry when removed from the machine, at which point they are thoroughly checked for any stains that may require additional treatment prior to being pressed. Stained items will either be sent back through the Dry Cleaning process or spot treated.
Pressing: After the cleaning process, items will be pressed to give them a crisp, professional look. Almost all items are pressed by hand except for men’s button-down dress shirts, which fit the mold of a special pressing machine. The machine can press the shirts at a much faster rate, which creates efficiencies and allows us to offer this service at a slightly lower price.
Packaging & delivery: All pressed items will be packaged for delivery and can be hung or folded based on your preference. To ensure we meet your cleaning needs, make sure to notify Customer Care of any folding preferences in advance of your pickup.
Hanging items will be wrapped in a thin, protective plastic wrap and then placed back inside your Black 2ULaundry Bag. Orders are typically bundled in groups of 12 or fewer items to uphold quality. Any extra items will be placed outside The Black Bag in a separate bundle.
Folded items will be professionally wrapped, folded, and returned in a separate white paper bag.
All orders are checked against each customer’s receipt before leaving the facility to ensure all cleaning requests are met and everything is accounted for upon delivery.

Check-in: Upon arrival at our facility, each item is checked in for cleaning and will be placed into the appropriate cleaning category for Dry Cleaning or Laundering based on its care label.
Cleaning: Launder and Press is the cleaning method through which clothing is washed on a standard washing cycle with an industrial detergent. Items are removed wet and then either dried in a dryer, hung to dry, or pressed based on the cleaning care instructions.
Men’s laundered dress shirts (button downs) will be pressed wet using a machine specifically built to press men’s dress shirts. The machine blows steam through the shirts, quickly drying and releasing the shirt of wrinkles. Men’s laundered dress shirts are the only items that fit the mold for the pressing machine, which is why they are less expensive than manually-pressed items.
Women’s dress shirts will also be laundered but do not fit the mold press machine, which requires them to be pressed manually. This process is more time and labor intensive, hence the higher price.
Men’s dress shirts that cannot be pressed by machine, such as flannel or embellished shirts, must be pressed by hand and will be charged as a regular dry cleaned shirt.
Other laundered items will be either dried or hung to dry based on the cleaning care tag and then manually pressed once dry.

2ULaundry covers minor alterations and repairs such as button replacement, hemming, zipper repair, and minor sewing for simple tears. We are not able to accommodate anything that would need to be tried on and fitted in person, as we do not have a store front.
Have a repair need? Please contact Customer Care in advance of your pickup to ensure we can accommodate your request. We can also provide a price quote if needed, as alterations and repairs will vary in price based on complexity.
Please use The Black 2ULaundry Dry Cleaning Bag for your alterations and repair items. Contact Customer Care via text, email, or call with a description of the repair/alteration, and we will process the request in our system.
Minor alterations and repairs typically take up to 7-10 business days, so please schedule your pickup accordingly as we are not able to put a rush on turnaround time.
Starch is a powder added to clothing in order to create stiffness or structure to laundered items. It’s traditionally added to the second washing cycle for items that are laundered and pressed.
Starch is not typically added to Dry Cleaned items unless it’s sprayed on after the cleaning process.
You can indicate your starch level preference during the signup process and make adjustments from your Online Account or using our mobile app at any time.
We do not currently accept personal hangers for any of our services. Please refrain from sending in hangers you wish to be returned with your order.
2ULaundry offers a hanger recycling program, through which we collect unwanted wire hangers for reuse. If you’re interested in returning your hangers, simply leave them out for collection in a separate disposable bag or in one of our hanger recycling boxes. These can be requested during the signup process by contacting Customer Care.
Stain removal depends on a few different factors including the type of stain, material of the stained item, and how long the stain has set in.
If you notice one of your items is stained, send in the piece for professional dry cleaning as soon as possible. Timing can impact the success of the stain removal process. We do not recommend pretreating the stain at home, especially for silk items, as it could cause further damage to the item.
Upon completion of the dry cleaning or laundering process, all items are scanned for residual stains. Stained items will most likely be spot treated or sent back through the cleaning process for another attempt at removing the stains. Since the Dry Cleaning process is designed to bring stains to the surface of the fabric, any additional treatment is typically very successful.
Spot treatment uses a steam gun with specialized pressure. The pressure can be changed depending on type of stain and material of the stained item.
The cleaning professional may choose to leave some stains untouched if they feel additional treatment could cause further damage such as a larger stain, water mark, or loss of color. If we’re unable to successfully remove a stain, we will notify you upon return.
