How to Fold a T-Shirt
T-Shirts are the foundation of a wash and fold laundry service! Once you know how to fold a T-Shirt, you can fold anything. Everyone thinks they know how to fold a T-Shirt but nobody knows how to fold T-Shirts like us.
Always:
Fold adult shirts 3x up to the top. Kids’ shirts, 2x.
Stay consistent by using your thumb to measure distance off of the collar.
Never:
Never be afraid to stretch shirts out so they lay flat.
Don’t fold tank tops like a t-shirt! Fold them like a pillowcase.
Pro Tip:
When folding laundry for multiple people, separate out the items by type of garment before starting to fold. You’ll find working on all the T-Shirts at once make you fold quicker and your folding will be more consistent.

How to Fold Pants
With the back pockets facing out, fold the ankles up to the waist. You’ve almost got a perfect rectangle. Tuck, tuck, tuck the crotch seam in before making your final fold.
Always:
Button the button & zip the zipper before folding. It creates symmetry!
Be sure to fold the pants with the back pockets facing out.
Never:
Don’t worry about stretching them!
Try not to stack different style pants in one stack. Jeans & PJ’s should be separate.
Did You Know?
While processing wash & fold laundry, we find lots of loose change and receipts in pant pockets. The strangest things we’ve found: a whole chicken wing.

How to Fold Yoga Pants
Yoga pants are made to be stretchy. So, don’t worry about stretching them out. They’re folded the same way as pants but take a little more flattening out on the table due to their elasticity.
Always:
Fold yoga pants the same way you jeans & other pants. Like jeans, fold the backside facing out.
Never:
Yoga pants are delicate. Don’t use too much heat! Wash cold and dry on low heat settings.

Americans spent $16 billion on yoga clothing & accessories in 2022. That’s a lot of yoga pants!

How to Fold Shorts
Up next, we’re folding shorts. Use the crotch seam to find a symmetrical line. Shake out the shorts and lay them flat. After that, the folding technique is very similar to pants.
Always:
Button the button & zip the zipper before folding. It creates symmetry!
Fold the shorts with the back pockets facing out.
Never:
Don’t be concerned about the crease caused by tucking in the crotch and thigh seam (Pic 2). This comes off as a crease – not a wrinkle.
Did You Know?
Some local dry cleaners charge more for shorts than they do for pants? Not us. Why wouldn’t shorts be half the price of pants? Shorts are, literally, half of a pant.

How to Fold Athletic Shorts
The material of athletic shorts is slippery. That’s why we fold athletic shorts one extra time up to the top. Casual shorts (above) are folded once to the top and athletic shorts are folded twice to the top.
Always:
Fold athletic shorts twice to the top. This makes it more compact which prevents unwanted slipping & sliding.
Like everything else, be sure to fold the shorts with the back facing out.
Never:
Don’t leave the drawstrings dangling out of the shorts. Tuck them in the waistband before folding.
Nylon and Polyester never wrinkle are generally quite wrinkle resistant.
Pro Tip:
Male and female shorts are folded with the exact same folding technique. They just end up being different sizes.

How to Fold Boxers & Briefs
Boxers and briefs aren’t folded like shorts – they’re folded like underwear. Once to the middle, again to the middle, and once to the top.
How to Fold Panties & Bras
Female underwear is folded with the same folding technique as male underwear – it’s just a different sized garment. Once to the middle, again to the middle, and once to the top.
The goal is to get bras as close to a square as possible. Do this by folding it once left-to-right then once top-to-bottom. If pads fall out in the cleaning process, stack them on top. You do not need to re-insert them.
How to Fold Socks
Fold socks! Don’t roll socks. This box-method is definitely more time-consuming than the old roll-em-in-a-ball-together trick. Remember, our goal is to make everything look neat. And, rolling socks in a ball doesn’t cut it. Even worse, leaving the feet out to dangle loosely is a NO GO!

How to Fold Your Kid’s Laundry
Kid’s clothes are hard to fold! There’s a lot of them. They’re all tiny. And they’re hard to fold. Don’t get discouraged. This is going to take a while. The goal is to make them nice, neat, and organized. They’re never going to be perfect but they can be very neat and organized!
Always:
Group them by size and gender to help make them ‘drawer-ready.’
Keep them neat and organized. Tops with tops & bottoms with bottoms.
Never:
Don’t get discouraged. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Folding tiny laundry takes longer.

Pro Tip:
When folding a full-family order, knock out the adult clothes & linens first. Toss the baby clothes to the side for later. Diving and conquering is always a good plan of attack.

How to Fold Towels
We fold all towels the same way. All rectangular hand towels and bath towels are folded once to the top, twice to the top, then into thirds.
Remember to hand-iron the wrinkles out as you fold. You’re not going to over-stretch a towel by trying to get the wrinkles out.
How to Fold Sheets
The goal is to fold the sheet as compact as possible – like it was taken straight out of the packaging at the store. It’s common for beginners to make big, wide folds. We want smaller, more compact folds resulting in a smaller, more compact finished product.
When done right, the extra folds don’t create extra wrinkles. They create patterned creases.
How to Package Laundry
Packaging is an art – not a science! The goal is balance. You don’t want to pack adult shirts with kid’s shorts with all the underwear all in one bag. We want a bunch of similar sized bags that are drawer-ready. It’s an art – not a science.
Always:
Squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible. This helps clothes stay organized on the trip back home.
Use one functional knot and one cosmetic knot to make the bags look like a perfectly wrapped Christmas present.
Never:
Never pack anything that is wet or damp into the plastic bags.
Don’t be afraid to bear hug the bags. This will get the extra air out that your hands couldn’t.
Don’t give up. It takes practice!
What does drawer-ready really mean?
Think of the mom who orders for a family of four. Drawer-ready doesn’t mean you need to guess how she puts away her laundry. But it does mean that you need to help her make one trip around the house – throwing a bag or two in each room. She’s not paying a premium for laundry service to walk laps around the house rifling through unorganized stacks of clothes.
